SLC Proof of Concept Only - 2025
November 19, 2025
Hello Neighbors,
If you have been driving the road between John Ullman (235 Sandy Lake Circle) and Paul Gable’s (244 Sandy Lake Circle) properties, you probably noticed there is an area between the two ponds that started collapsing a few months ago. Recently, the collapse has gotten worse, and a hole has opened up in the concrete because dirt around the drainage pipes, under the road, is eroding. Currently, there are two different sized drainage pipes under the road that were installed approximately 50 years ago. Two short lengths of smaller diameter concrete pipes, butted together, fit into a larger diameter steel pipe, and dirt has been packed around the area where they come together in order to “seal” them. Photos and a schematic of this issue can be found by going to SandyLakeCircle.com.
Unfortunately, the collapse continues to widen due to heavy traffic. It is a critical risk, and poses a potential legal liability. If the road is not repaired soon, we will have to close it completely, and detour all traffic to the Walton Road entrance. There is no easy fix, and we don’t have the luxury of time; it’s not a matter of if, but when that section of road fails. Think about it this way, we have 2025 traffic using our 1970s road. The number of delivery trucks alone has added extra strain.
What is Being Done
Several of your neighbors have gotten together to remediate this critical issue. Quotes are being solicited from companies that can repair the road properly. The goal is to obtain at least 3 quotes from bonded and insured companies, which will be made available to all of you. We hope to start the repair work as soon as possible. Before that work can start, a second notice will be sent out with all of the details concerning this project and what we will need from each Sandy Lake property owner.
Additionally, John Ullman will be reaching out to our Sandy Lake treasurer to find out how much money is available in the neighborhood fund.
As many of you are already aware, this issue is one of many in the neighborhood that will necessitate contributions from the neighbors on an ongoing basis. Please know that we are planning a neighborhood meeting to discuss all the issues in early 2026, and we hope you will attend. We live in a beautiful area surrounded by nature and lakes. It’s up to us to take care of it.
In the meantime, thank you for your time, thank you for being wonderful neighbors, and thank you for your help. To the person or persons who wrote the anonymous letter that went out late August, we agree with you…Sandy Lake Circle is a one in a million neighborhood!
With best regards and appreciation,
Paul & Melanie Gable, John Ullman & Sarah Wolfrom, Dale & Beverly Polzin, Rod & Barrie Dreyer, Timmy & Michelle O’Brien, George & Vicki Kritko, Emmy & Jeff Schneider, Steve & Kathy Poth, Andy & Kathy Piotrowski

September 2021 - Neighborhood Annual meeting (All Residents) - Thank you for attending our resident neighborhood meeting at Bob and Priscilla Woody's home! We had a great turn out and participation from most of the neighborhood. The meeting slides are posted here for more information or you can go to meeting notes on our Events page. As of 09/14/2021, we have already collected $12,400 in both annual and infrastructure remediation funds!
Compassionate Kitty Tree Rescue - Special thanks to Bruno for being our neighborhood daredevil. He agreed to be hoisted 35+ feet up a tree with a quick home made bosun's chair via Bill's 4 wheeler to successfully rescue one of our neighborhood family fur babies, Sabrina McCoy. She had been missing for a week and was found on the other side of the lake.
May 2019 - Neighborhood meeting - Thank you to the Woody family for hosting the meeting at their beautiful property. For more information, go to meeting notes on our Events page.
